Adoptable Horses

All of our adoptable animals have been properly evaluated for temperament and riding ability. They have been thoroughly examined by our veterinarian and have been vaccinated. If needed, their teeth have been floated and they have had proper hoof care. We follow a strict adoption process that begins with filling out an adoption application. After we receive the adoption application, it is reviewed by our board and references are checked, an appointment is set up to come and meet the prospective adopted animal.

We will check references. Once that process is complete, we will trailer the animal to the new home. Our #1 priority is to place our rescued animals in the perfect forever homes. If you are interested in adopting one of our rescued animals, please remember we like to match our animals with the best possible forever home, so make sure you read about each animal thoroughly to quality yourself as a compatible adopter! We are always bringing home new rescues, so if you do not see a horse that’s right for you, please be sure to check back often. Like us on Facebook for the most up to date news!

Rip Wheeler

Registered Name “Twofourseven”
16.1 hands
American Standardbred
DOB 02/12/2005
Track Earnings $133,724
Sold to Amish in approximately 2013
Adoption fee with contract $500.00 Located in Marine City, MI

Rip came to us when he was thrown away at auction on December 2, 2022 after he was injured and his usefulness was over. He sustained a large shoulder injury that is now fully healed. We outbid the kill buyers to keep him from heading to slaughter.

Rip is a very kind soul, sweet soul with just enough sass to make him fun.

We just started him under saddle and he has been an absolute star. While he does not really know about legs and riding yet, he’s been letter perfect in every lesson. He is learning quickly how to move off legs and move forward freely. We took him on a follow the leader trail ride and he was letter perfect and very quiet. HE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TROT UNDER SADDLE AT THIS TIME. We will continue his training until he is adopted. He is sound with no maintenance. His ideal home would be with a family that wants a trail horse and companion. Honestly, I would put a three year old on him and trust him completely, he is THAT quiet under saddle. He just needs to learn to move forward without voice commands. He is absolutely sound and fully vaccinated, teeth floated, dewormed and farrier work done. He is a very easy keeper and needs no maintenance. He is thickly built and can carry a heavier rider.

Our primary goal is to match our rescued horses into their perfect forever homes. The first step in the process is to fill out an adoption application. We must have an application on file first before we can go to step 2. Videos and additional pictures will be available on request once a completed application is returned and approved. To fill out an adoption application, please visit our website at www.daydreamsfarm.com or request one by email at info@daydreamsfarm.com. We keep our adoptions fees very low, although extra donations are always welcome. We are funded entirely by our generous supporters.

Bentley
18.1 hands
Belgian Draft Horse
DOB Approximately 01/01/2003
Believed to be an Amish Horse his entire life
Adoption fee with contract $400.00 Located in Marine City, MI

We outbid a kill buyer to get Bentley on February 10, 2023. He has an old injury to his hind leg that resulted in a severe case of cellulitis. Working with our vet, we were able to treat the leg and get him back to soundness. However, his leg will never return o a normal size. While Bentley is older, he is far from needing to be retired. In fact, he is better when he is in light work and our vet said that physically it would be good for him. He can absolutely go back to pulling a cart and we have ridden him a handful of times. He doesn’t seem to know much under saddle but he’s been 100% safe and obedient.

Bentley loves people and loves to be around them. His biggest fault is he has clearly been done only in stocks his entire life and we are working on trying to teach him to pick up his feet on his own. We are making progress, but it is going to take more work to get him perfect. You must have draft or large horse experience to adopt Bentley. Just based solely on his size, he needs people with experience handling larger horses. He does NOT act his age, but he acts much younger and lives life with enthusiasm.
